The Music Maker

Updated: Oct 23, 2018

Hello, everyone!

A quick but lovely update to share with you… Finally! We have arrived at my favorite part of filmmaking:

The Score!!

Every filmmaker has their style. Some people like to have the actors and the writing carry a scene (and I do think that’s warranted on some occasions), other people don’t like to have music at all and go completely on sound design, some like to use their mom’s flute to highlight certain parts of the film… I think, I guess. I don’t know. Who knows!? People like all sorts of things, but what I’m trying to say is that

I adore films with beautiful scores. To me, music is essential. When I am working on the film, the possible score is always in mind. The math of the art is present during the edit, during the filming… Part of the reason I love film so much is due to the fact that it is a blend of many arts into one composition. So, without talking about my thoughts too much, I want to finally introduce the wonderfully talented (and I’m not using those words lightly!) Carrin Tanaka as the Composer for “Road of Bygones.”

Carrin is based in Los Angeles and has dual degrees in music composition and ethnomusicology from the University of California. She has also toured Europe as a mezzo-soprano, and has studied in California, New York, and Italy. She’s a full time composer as well as a board member of the Academy of Scoring Arts. If you’d like to read her full bio, check out her website here. (

I am absolutely thrilled to be working with such a talented, intelligent, and personable musician on this film, and I hope that you will enjoy hearing her music as much as we do.

“Music is the wine that fills the cup of silence.” ― Robert Fripp

If you’d like to follow Carrin Tanaka on social media check out her Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

Thanks for following along! My adrenaline is off the charts now that we get to move a little faster. I’m also working on some things that I think you’ll all be happy to find out about, BUT since I’m all about a cliffhanger, I’ll tell you all about it during the next live chat

A big Thank You to everyone who purchased our Lathe Cut Record bundles, thanks to you we were able to raise the remaining funds to work with this talented young woman. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, check out our super cool Camp Belvidere records at We also added a new bundle (since our Groovy Bundle sold out) called “The Literary Bundle.” It includes a signed, copy of the original Camp Belvidere screenplay. Give it a look if it interests you, every purchase goes towards the music
